"CASTLES AND CROWNS 2009" was a breakthrough for the Vacation Bible School (VBS) coordinators as they filled their summer time with this new presentation on VBS, Castles and Crowns: A Royal Adventure.
The VBS curriculum was a five-day program that teaches the true character of God through the kings and queens of the Bible.
Churches from all over Central Luzon Conference (CLC) territory adapted this technique which can be considered as a timely presentation since it was designed to have more realistic and upbeat activities. Other churches spent a two-week commitment with the first week focused on the kids in their churches and the second week on non-Adventist kids.According to Mrs. Lenie Villaroel, Children's Ministries (CHM) coordinator from Provident Church, "It was indeed a fruitful task in the sense that the first batch consisting of the Adventist kids assisted the teachers as they reached other kids in a slum area. Hindi na po kami nahirapan dahil nakakatulong nang malaki ang mga bata sa loob ng iglesya."
Some churches spent only one week for the VBS program. However, the kids who attended found the one-week time very short and wanted to extend the classes in order to get to know more their teachers and new friends.
During the graduation time, kids were given tokens and special awards. They also exhibited their crafts, recited memory verses and sang the new songs they learned.
The conference supplied more or less 7,000 copies of kids' activities for this summer 2009.
