The Adventist Community Services (ACS) University Hills Chapter adopted Barangay Potrero, Malabon City as the recipient of its one year weekly services that commenced on July 25, 2009.
To facilitate this partnership between the Seventh-day Adventist Church and Barangay Potrero, both parties agreed to conduct a signing of Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) which was held on July 20 at Barangay Hall, Pinagtipunan Circle, Potrero, Malabon City.
Hon. Eddie Nolasco, Malabon City councilor; Hon. Sheryl Nolasco, Potrero Barangay captain together with his councilors; Mr. Emil Yaptanco, POTRERO Malabon-K, Inc. president together with his co-officers; Pastor Jose Zabat, Jr., Central Luzon Conference Adventist Community Services director together with Mr. Boyet Barrientos, University Hills Adventist Church Head elder and Mary Nierras, ACS coordinator attended this historic MOA signing.
The leadership of Barangay Potrero appreciated the initiative of the Adventist Church to assist them in extending services to their constituents.
"We are thankful for extending your services to our barangay," said Captain Nolasco.
Yaptanco said, "I am thankful for having this partnership toward a united effort between the barangay and the Adventist through ACS to help the needy."
Barrientos as head elder felt that this venture is challenging. He said, "After signing the MOA, I realized that it was a big challenge where to get the funding of the said partnership."
However, he took courage knowing that the church and God will be supportive of the project. "But the church is committed to render its unconditional services just as our Lord and Savior gave his unconditional love to save each one of us."
