In line with the advocacies of the Family Ministries of the Central Luzon Conference (CLC), San Miguel Seventh-day Adventist Church, North Bulacan II District held a church-based renewal of vows on Feb. 13, 2010.
Just a day before the Valentine's, 26 pairs participated in an activity of renewing marital commitment and promised to love their respective spouses forever in front of a jam-packed audience.
"So stunning and striking my wife still is, her attraction for me never fades," confidently said Paule Papa, 50 years married to his wife.
Before the much awaited program hour, every single person was excited to see the participants walk on the aisle to the church altar in their elegant attire.
Participants expressed that their experience made them grow.
"It is very rewarding for me and my wife that we were able to experience such program as this," said participants Mr. and Mrs. Ke-e. "We did not experience this kind of wedding before... we are so thankful indeed that we became Adventists," whispered by Mr. and Mrs. Ke-e.
"What to Do after You Say "I Do" was the topic discussed by the speaker, Pastor Geronimo Viernes, Jr. during the homily where some of the practical but commonly neglected tips on how to spice up marriage relationship after saying "I Do" were enumerated.
"...by putting God first, getting to know yourself and your mate, being a good listener, adding humor to your marriage, learning when, and how to say you're sorry, respecting your partner, banishing the words "You always and You never," and lastly focusing on strengths not weakness," Viernes summarized.
"Grabe talaga, nakakakilig tignan. (Its really great, makes you feel in love as you see them)," said Rina Adriano, a youth member of the church. "Para silang mga bagong kasal kahit matatanda na ang iba sa kanila! Napaka-sweet nila sa isa't isa (they look like newly weds even if some of them are old. They're sweet to one another).
"I feel not sorry for attending this very rare opportunity," said member Susan Leonor. "I am certain that it will again heighten our romantic relationship with my husband."
After the wedding program, picture taking was done to make it sure that every couple was given the shot for their lovely post in front of the cameras.
Just outside the church building, wedding reception program followed. And indeed, our couples continued their sugary mood just like a lovely bird.
The program, spearheaded by the Family Ministries of San Ildefonso, became more attention-grabbing with the participation of the youth as secondary sponsors, the children as flower girls, the little kids as the Bible and Covenant bearer and the seniors as principal sponsors.
