"A child's glory is his father." Proverbs 17:6b (TLB)

There are many ways to measure success; not the least of which is the way your child describes you when talking to a friend.

Pathfinder Ministry is Thriving

The 2nd AIIAS Master Guide Leadership Conference was indeed a forum of international youth leaders. This Conference, held from May 13-15, 2011, at the amphitheater of the Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies, Lalaan I, Silang, Cavite, Philippines had the theme 21st Century Pathfindering.

The Pathfinder Ministry remains vital amidst the changing times. The topics and discussions during the plenary sessions and the break-out sessions were enlightening and thought-provoking. A total of 138 delegates came from various countries like Bangladesh, Belarus, Canada, Ghana, Grenada, India, Indonesia, Mongolia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Ukraine, and the United States. There were also delegates from the Central Luzon Conference, South-Central Luzon Conference and Northern Luzon Adventist College.

Among the plenary speakers were MG BienvenidoMergal, a professor on Applied Theology at AIIAS, who dealt with Integrating Spiritual Formation in Pathfindering; MG RonellMamarimbing, of North Minahasa Conference of Indonesia, stressed the importance of Revival and Reformation in Pathfinder Leadership; MG Felixian Felicitas, of Mountain View College, underscored an engaging topic on How to Kill A Pathfinder Club: Thrive Amidst the Threat; MG Francisco Gayoba, the president of the Adventist University of the Philippines, presented the Appropriate Camping Activities on the Sabbath, which is based from sound theological perspectives. MG Dave Morado, the Youth Director of South-Central Luzon Conference, gave an encouraging report of the youth activities. MG Jesse Acosta, of Central Luzon Conference, gave the closing message of the Conference.

The breakout sessions were handled and lead by the candidates for the Pathfinder Instructor’s Award (PIA). The current Master Guide-in-Training (MGT), and those completing the Pathfinder Leadership Award (PLA), together with MG Evelyn Almocera, MG Henry Sitanggang, and MG Ruby Orate played important roles in the success of the 2nd AIIAS Master Guide Conference. The morning and evening devotionals proved to be spiritually engaging as well, with the support of the AIIAS senior pastor Laudimer Gatus and youth pastor Restituto Bualoy. Another highlight of this yearly event was the social night which was a chance to make friends and relax. As we look back with appreciation to those who took part in and planned for this Conference, we also are looking forward to the 3rd AIIAS Master Guide Conference with anticipation. See you there!
