“Music was made to serve a holy purpose, to lift the thoughts to that which is pure, noble, and elevating, and to awaken in the soul devotion and gratitude to God…” The significance of this message that was uttered by Ellen G. White in Reflecting Christ, p.255 came to its existence in the “CLC-Wide Music Leaders’ Fellowship—The Adventist Hymnal Conference” at CLC-Cucueco Hall, on June 4,2011 themed “The Language of My Soul.” Music Leaders from local churches were in attendance on this one day event to have fellowship, direction setting, consultations, studying of God’s word and prayer.
Speakers who brought inspiration and excellence to this gathering were Paula Cecilia Borlongan, Adventist Youth Leader/Choir Director, Caloocan Center Church—Devotional Speaker, “Music, the Language of My Soul”; Pastor Jan Elexiz Mercado, Youth Pastor, LL7 Sola Scriptura Christian Fellowship—“Ellen G. Mrs. Josie Felda Calera, CLC CHM/Music Ministries Director led the teaching of church hymnal songs that are not frequently sang during praise and worship.
Issues and concerns like singing action and contemporary songs were raised during the open forum in the afternoon.
Before the commitment, music leaders were set according to their group colors to have a goal setting, wherein they conveyed the problems and needs of the local church when it comes to music ministries.
