LONDON — The award winning Adventist University of the Philippines (AUP) Ambassadors conducted by Ramon Lijauco Jr. has again proved its world-class talent after earning the prestigious title “Choir of the World” in the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod held in Wales, United Kingdom.
“Choir of the World” is the competition’s climax which determines the best choir in the event.
According to Seventh-day Adventist Church Facebook Page, AUP Ambassadors, the sole representative of the Philippines to the said competition also bag the 1st place award in Mixed Choirs and Chamber Choirs category.
Pavarotti Trophy has been awarded to AUP Ambassadors. The Trophy was named after Luciano Pavarotti, the great Italian tenor.
The Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod began in 1947. Around 4,000 performers and artist from 50 countries around the world compete each year for different categories.
In 2006, AUP Ambassadors was hailed “Champion of the World” in the 4th World Choir Games held in Xiamen, China.
The group is currently included in the World Ranking list of Musica Mundi.

Last June this year, another singing group from AUP, Young Voices Choir bagged two gold medals for sacred music and folklore music category in the recent American International Choir Festival held in Nevada, USA.
The group received a “standing ovation” after singing “Don’t stop believing”, the famous song from Glee”, said AUP website.
Also this year, the Prime Note Ensemble under the guidance of Novem Cabios from AUP wins special international award in the recent California International Choral Festival and Competition held in USA.
