East Bulacan I of Area 4 held its first district fellowship for 2009 on February 21, 2009 at San Pedro Farm, Sitio Lingunan, Partida, Norzagaray, Bulacan which was highlighted by the “Renewal of Vows” of ten couples.
The program was attended by more than 400 members from eight churches—Bulac, Bayabas, Bato, Buasao, Camachile, Guyong, Linawan, Norzagaray and Pallorina.
Sponsored by the Family Ministry District Association, the fellowship’s theme was “Hakbang Tungo sa Matatag at Masayang Pamilya” (Step Toward a Strong and Happy Family) with Pastor Jose Zabat, Jr., Central Luzon Conference (CLC) Family Ministry director, as guest speaker.
Linawan Church started the program with a family time skit performed by Pastor Rashel Capobres, Brother Adong Crisologo and Sister Gracel Sabado who are members of the church.
Zabat gave a lecture on the importance of a family being the primary unit of organization in any society.
In the afternoon, Zabat officiated the ceremonies for the renewal of vows which drew great applause from the audience. The ten couples marched along the aisle complete with their entourage of sponsors, bible bearers and flower girls and reaffirming their marriage vows.
The couples were Mr. and Mrs. Prudencio and Rosario Robes, married for 66 years; Mr. and Mrs. Celedonio and Elizabeth De Mesa, 31 years; Mr. and Mrs. David and Estrella Velasco, 30 years, Mr. and Mrs. Clemente and Nenita Pamero, 27 years; Mr. and Mrs. Ruben and Ma. Luz Eran, 12 years; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred and Sally Perez, 11 years; Mr. and Mrs. Ramon and Yolly Lopez, 9 years; Joromel and Nelia Pascual, 5 years; Mr. and Mrs. Dan and Cherry Jean Llagas, 5 years; and Mr. and Mrs. Adorino and Ana May Resigurado, 1 year.
Mrs. Robes, the oldest among the brides at 84, proudly confided that this wedding ceremony was their fourth, the first one when they got married as a young couple, the second when they celebrated their silver (25th) anniversary and the third when they had their golden wedding (50th).
“Even though we’re married for many, many years, 66 years, our marriage has been very strong that nothing has ever come its way to destroy it. Our secret? Our deep faith in God and our love, trust and respect for one another,” Mr. Robes, the 88-year-old groom, said.
Another couple, Mr. and Mrs. Pamero said they were glad because they were married in a Catholic church when they were not Adventists yet and had the opportunity to correct their first marriage and to conform to the doctrines of their present faith.
Mr. and Mrs. De Mesa, late registrants, expressed their happiness on their decision to renew their vows, although at first they were hesitant because they wanted it to be witnessed by their two children, who are studying abroad at present.
The organizers were President Chadey Hidalgo-Pallorina, Vice-President Daisy Siapo-Guyong, Secretary Joy Suarez, Treasurer Ramir Gavenia-Bulac, Advisers Ana Francisco and Pastor Nick Francisco of Eact Bulacan I. All Family Ministry leaders acted as public relations officers.
The Linawan Youth Choir, Violin Ensemble of Norzagaray and Flutists of Pallorina provided music for the event.
