Renewal of wedding vows is a meaningful and touching ceremony for a couple. It reaffirms their love and devotion to each other and helps them reflect where they have been and where they are going. For this reason, 37 couples reaffirmed their love to their spouses in a beautiful ceremony held at Baesa Adventist Church on 05 June 2011, the first Sunday of the wedding month.
The occasion was a complete wedding ceremony with the CLC President and his wife, Pastor and Mrs. Romeo Mangiliman, as the Principal Sponsors. Children and close relatives of the couples were the secondary sponsors, flower girls and Bible/certificate bearers. It was also a unique wedding ceremony because the two Officiating Ministers, Pastors Romeo Mangiliman and Gerardo Cajobe, also joined in the reaffirmation of their love for their wives. It was a solemn moment for couples to reaffirm their lifetime commitment to one another in God’s presence and a joyful moment too, as each couple sealed their affirmation with a kiss followed by a dedicatory prayer offered by Pastor Cajobe.
In the homily of Pastor Mangiliman, he outlined the characteristics of a continuing successful marriage using the acronym BEST.
Pastor Mangiliman explained that, “B stands for the beautiful physique of the bride that is transformed into inner beauty as the years go by; E stands for endurance in facing daily problems that can be achieved only when the family is Christ-centered; S is for stability that comes when the family worships God together; and T is for trust in God and in each other that can help meet the challenges in raising the family over the years.”
Signing of the Certificate of Affirmation of Love was done by the 37 couples as represented by the youngest couple, Melvin and Mylene Cabance, who has been married only for 6 months and by Leopoldo and Arsenia Sison who have remained married for 53 years.
The renewal of vows ceremony was followed by a reception held at the School Canteen in the new Baesa School Building. Emcees Charlie and Rubi Raquel Acebedo kept the atmosphere cheerful with anecdotes and caricatures portraying the true and sometimes amusing episodes in a married life. There were also games that all the couples participated in and enjoyed. Truly it was a memorable day for the newly “re-weds”.
In her closing remarks, the Family Ministries Leader, Sis. Noemi Cabance, acknowledged the efforts of the Adventist Couples Coordinators, Jeff and Ernestine Dinglasan, and the President of the Circle of Adventist Couples, Nemy Ilagan, for organizing the celebration of affirmation of love.
