105 Young People 'Survive' Church-based Master Guide Camp

Posted December 13, 2017 • By Adventist Youth as related to Communication Department

Inspired. Reminded. Survived.

This is how the 105 Master Guide trainees and staff remarked after joining the Central Luzon Conference (CLC)-wide Church-based Master Guide Survival Camping themed “Survived” from October 30 to November 2 in Masinloc, Zambales.

The camping was an answer to the need of training young people to become witnesses and leaders, and return to the “primitive” way of preparing them for involvement in God’s mission. Moreover, Pathfindering is an effective method to mold today’s generation for Christian service and personal development.

Although it began as a church program, Pathfindering was embraced more in our church schools. Thus, as years went by, little did this training program become noticed in most of the churches. For these reasons, the CLC Youth Department planned to engage the young people to become full-fledged Master Guides of the Lord by surviving wilderness living.

To give a foretaste of what it’s like to be independent on what you have and be dependent only in Jesus, the organizers chose a remote area where communication and electricity are limited. By doing this, participants learned to integrate faith in God and learning through submission and obedience.

Noah Francisco, one of the attendees who joined the camp, confessed his innocence in survival training. “I must admit that this [survival training] is one of the best memorable experiences I ever have as a young adult. In my childhood, I was used to live a comfortable life. And this reminded me that material things are not the real essence of Christianity but faith in Jesus is.” Likewise, Susan Beronia shared what she learned from the camp. “I became more serious in my personal relationship with God, knowing that oftentimes I take it for granted. Obeying and total submission from the Lord’s instructions are important to survive in this world.”

Overall, CLC Youth director Pastor Geronimo Viernes Jr. sees church-based Master Guide to be highly significant in training, leading and molding the young people. “I was inspired to see our young people rose to be more committed and equipped to do God’s mission after this survival camp. I am convinced that we need more of these, providing wholesome and intentional activities to develop the young people’s spirituality.”

Young People Geared Up “In His Service”

January 7, 2018 • By Adventist Youth as related to Communication Department

There is an urgent call for the involvement of young people in evangelism. Once realized and achieved, active participation commences. So is the goal of the Central Luzon Conference Youth Advisory and Direction Setting on January 7 in Los Banos, Laguna. With the theme “In His Service,” 24 leaders from the 11 areas of the conference gathered to comprehend and apply leadership in the local church setting to fulfill God’s Commission for the upcoming evangelism explosion this year—Philippines for Christ 2018. Timely lectures and activities were presented and led by selected ministers who encouraged the youth to move forward recognizing the presence of the Lord before them. “In our leadership, God has promised His abiding presence, assisting help, and anchoring power once we truly commit our lives to Him,” said Pastor Uzziel Pardillo, associate pastor in Seventh-day Adventist Church in Baesa, Caloocan City. Attendees positively responded with the calling of Pastor Geronimo Viernes Jr., conference youth director, to depend on God and not on human power when it comes to witnessing. Area 6 Secretary Gen Camato commented, “I am glad to join such experience knowing that I can contribute something to witness for the Lord,” while Leo Ladores, Area 1 President, expressed thrilling sentiments: “I can say that I am now ready to promote, inform, and equip our young people about evangelism.”...
