As 2017 enters, Central Luzon Conference (CLC) office workers seek out the mighty power of the Spirit through a Week of Prayer themed “Baptism of the Spirit” with Paulo M. Apostol, ministerial intern assigned in South Bulacan 2, as guest speaker.
With four topics emphasizing the nature and movement of the Holy Ghost, Apostol shared his thoughts based on God’s Holy Word and shown passages from the Spirit of Prophecy to establish the great work and part of the Spirit in guiding, indwelling and influence of Christ in the heart of His followers that will bring revival and reformation.
“The Lord dwells in us only through the Spirit’s working. He impresses the need of Christ’s abiding presence in our lives…and it will only happen if we fully surrender to Him. We may not all be pastors or may have different works or positions, but if the Holy Spirit is in us, transformation will surely happen,” Apostol said.
Upon the culmination of the spiritual series, CLC officers and directors lead out the first Lord’s Supper of the year, remembering Christ’s love, humility, and sacrifice.
CLC president Benjamin Casimiro, in his remarks before the service, pointed out the importance of such holy sacrament to Seventh-day Adventists and its role to reflect Christ in our lives: “This (Lord’s supper) is done in remembrance of the greatest love of Christ, the very reason why we have hope for eternal life. Maipahayag ang ating pananampalataya, magkaroon ng nag-uumapaw na kasabikan upang makasama na ang Diyos (To proclaim our faith, filled with an overflowing eagerness to finally be with God)… the Source of our great joy, life and inspiration. And let foot washing symbolize forgiveness, acceptance, assurance, and solidarity.”
The Conference commits its work throughout the year by starting it with a spiritual week of prayer to refresh and renew the minds of the workers in developing their personal relationship and enhancing missionary service.
Surely, there is more to know and explore about the Spirit as His leading guides us in abiding of Christ in us. May the church be filled with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit until Jesus comes the second time.
