Youth Ministries holds First Church-Based Pathfinder Camporee

Posted June 1, 2018 • By Youth Ministries as related to Communication Department

To strengthen one of the leading ministries in training and equipping the young people is the goal of the first conference-wide church-based Pathfinder Camporee held on May 23 to 27 in Central Luzon Adventist Academy.

With the theme “Edify,” the program catered to 260 individuals from 17 local churches in the territory to guide them to a satisfying relationship with Jesus through nature and leadership skills.

“I was really nervous at first because I thought it is like undergoing military training, but I was totally wrong because I’ve experienced, learned and witnessed that Pathfindering is for my growth physically, emotionally, socially and spiritually.” -Helaenah Manalo, Olongapo SDA Pathfinder Club.

“Very rewarding to be involved especially to be one of the lecturers and trainers. One thing I’ve learned is you need to understand the need of our young people not only for them to be expert in skills but to become more submissive to the will of God.” -Glecie Sondol, MAMC Pathfinder Club.

“As club Director, I learned to be humble and become a model to your trainees. To become more aware of my leadership that is patterned to Christ, committed to equip and train more young people for the edification of His church.” -Norman Estomago, Hilltop SDA Church.

“I wanted to become Master Guide because I believe that I can be more equipped and confident through God’s grace once I become a full-fledge Master Guide. I realized that this kind of training should not be set aside in our church because through these trainings iour young people are protected from worldly pleasures and helps them to become more faithful to Jesus Christ. By God’s grace, I promise to be more active in Patfindering.” -Nenebeth Fugoso, Dilasag Pathfinder Club.

Aside from the basic Pathfinder skills that would earn the participants their honors are messages from guest speakers: Pastor Jobbie Yabut, division youth director, for the essence of the Pathfindering in the church; Pastor David Morado, union youth director, tackled the role of Pathfindering in the edification of the church; and Pastor Laudimer Gatus, Cavite Satellite Field Office youth director, on the importance of commitment in Pathfindering.

Central Luzon Conference Youth Ministries Director Pastor Geronimo Viernes Jr. still believed that Pathfindering would do great wonders in training the youth despite negativities. “Undeniably, there is a big challenge on how Pathfindering will make its way to become one of the leading programs of our church in the conference. Over the years, Pathfinder and Master Guide training have been important leadership training grounds for our young people, nurturing their relationship with Jesus Christ. Yes, it has also been a laughingstock ministry of because of some negative reasons. But as I reflect the successes in evangelism happening in other countries because of Pathfinder, I still believe that when we fully embrace church-based Pathfindering, we can fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ."
